A little something embarrassing...

I used to be really into Alanis Morissette.

I am not talking about when I was nine and Jagged Little Pill came out and everyone was totally into her and girls thought they were hardcore because they blasted "You Oughta Know" while driving around after breaking up with their boyfriends. No, it wasn't then. It was in high school. Yeah, me and my friend Sara started going to her shows and were into her "newer" stuff and would try to meet her weird ways and it was all kinda just for something to do, but we were SERIOUS about it. We met her a few times,

This was the first

Once we got flown to New York for Alanis to cut our hair on national television. We became friends with her guitarist and started going to his other band's shows and hanging out with him. We were psycho. We met her a few times and made a video for this contest and sent it into them. Every March 8th, this is what we did...

March 8th is ACTUALLY Alanis Morissette Day. (In Canada, but you know, I guess we still counted it. We would drive around blasting her music by the beach holding up signs and filming people's reactions.)

We had alanis sleepovers with our whole group of alanis friends after concerts, some from LA some from San Diego. We celebrated my friends Alaniversary, (the 1 year anniversary of the first time she saw Alanis in concert.) For her birthday I made her an Alanis Cookie. (Which she actually saved for a long time... too long really...

I'm not even kidding you. We were serious. Now try to think of something more embarrassing about yourself.... If you can, please share...

You can't believe everything you hear...

You can pick your friends.

You can pick your nose.

But you can't pick your friend's nose...

Summer.

When I lay on my bed, on top of the covers, with my head at the foot of the bed and my feet at the head, it makes me feel like it's summer. Don't ask me why. I have asked other people if they feel the same way, but no one that I have asked shares my strange opinion.

Summer is coming soon.

I am beyond excited. Not only am I going to be 21 this summer, but most importantly, I am going to BUBBLE all summer long.

Bubbling is a game that my mom and I invented in the 90's. It started out with a bottle of bubbles and a wand. We found out that if you hold the bubble wand out the window when the car is going exactly 15 mph, the wand will create a pretty long stream of bubbles. If you go too fast, the bubble will just pop from inside the wand, and too slow it will drip off onto the asphalt. Bubble guns were soon invented, and we took parking lots by storm! Bubbling became more than just a game and a way to make people happy--it was a way of life. One day, we were bubbling, and a motorcycle cop pulled onto the street behind us and started following us. We thought surely it wasn't illegal, but were fully prepared to be pulled over. Much to our surprise, the cop stuck one of his hands in the air while riding behind us and tried to "catch" (which with bubbles is actually popping them, but you know the hand motion I am talking about...) It was awesome. He was playing with us.

Bubbling is one of my all time favorite summer activities. I found out on my first date with my boyfriend, 2.5 years ago, that they only sell bubble accessories in the spring and summer months. I had told him all about bubbling at lunch on this famous first date, and being a lot like me, he was stoked to go out and buy all the necessary equipment to get to bubblin'. Our plan was then thwarted at Wal-Mart when we soon found out that they would not have bubble stuff on sale for months to come. We decided to just walk around the store inside of the same hula-hoop and sit together on a mini Blue's Clues couch instead. Wal-Mart has been one of our "places" ever since. It also helps that we are both nocturnal and they are the only place open 24 hours around... Well, I am not even talking about anything remotely similar to what this post started out to be about. Ok, I'm out.

Spinning.

This took us a few months, several awesome CTV people, some talented and adorable kids, and one cold day at the arboretum. Enjoy.

Best Friend Guess Who

Surprisingly, they have come out with a new version of this game since that commercial that made me need that game when I was 8. I own it. Although, the people on the cards have had some work done--no more chin dimples, wrinkles or rosy cheeks. Botox and all. The entire deck of cards has made some plastic surgeon on LA a lot richer. Refreshingly enough, they have kept some baldies though, to keep "Are you bald?" a legitimate guessing question.

Sadly enough though, the game cards still do not actually talk.

My friend Stephanie and I made up our own game that we play with the game contents. We call it "Best Friend Guess Who". Basically, you need to play with someone you know really well, or at least have a feel for how they judge people.

Rules: When guessing you have to ask a personal question about the people on the cards to find out who your opponent is holding. No physical attributes can be asked about. Example question: "Does your person enjoy the 1997 film Titanic?" or "Do 'you' make your bed everyday?" or even "Do 'you' enjoy adult films on a regular basis?". The answering player then has to assess based on their card person's appearance if they believe that this person does this thing or not, and answer subjectively. This is why you have to know your opponent's way of judging people.

This game can end correctly, (guessing the right person at the end) and has. It can also end with the wrong person up last, at which point you have to go through the questions you have written down and see who they eliminated and at which questions, and then you see where the two of you disagreed.

It's "fun stuff".
